The Crawfords Story

Crawfords was established in 1994 and through their combination of genuine, honest advice and professionalism they soon became a household name within the UK metal detecting hobby. Now in 2006 they can boast a database of thousands of satisfied customers through out UK and Europe and even as far a field as Australia.
Managing Director, Craig Allison is recognised as one of the leading authorities on hobby metal detectors in the UK and is often called upon by manufactures to advise upon and test the latest products.
Craig firmly believes the key to the continuing success of Crawfords lies, as it always has, in customer service; "From the very beginning, our goal has been to listen to our Customers' requirements and help them buy a metal detector that is suitable for their individual needs. I recently purchased a metal detector from Crawfords through mail order.
The Owner Craig was incredibly helpful and gave me his time and advice over the phone without sounding board or patronising, like another company whose name I shall not mention, in-fact his enthusiasm made me want to start metal detecting straight away. I organised delivery and received my machine the next day.
Unfortunately, the machine was not designed for someone of my height and the adjustments to extend the detector did not help. I contacted Craig the same day and he was FANTASTIC, not only did he take the other machine back without a grumble, but he also advised me on a different machine. I am now very happy with my Minelab X-Terra 30, a great detector for all people.
I do not just say this lightly, I used to work for a company whose job it was to train staff in phone and front of house service- CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was a researcher, i.e. I would contact these firms by phone after our agents had trained them and grade them on their public relation skills. When a company’s robot tells you on the phone these calls are recorded for training purposes –THEY ARE. I have worked with many well known Airlines, Rail companies and International Hotel chains telephonically and over the Internet and they could all take a page out of Crawfords Metal Detectors book on customer service.
